The review team provides opportunity for input from all teachers working with the student and from the student’s parents.
The review team examines the body of evidence and may make one or more of the following determinations:

Screening tools may be qualitative or quantitative in nature, standardized and/or normative. Screening data are part of a body of evidence for making identification and instructional decisions.
A student may enter into screening through many different entry points. Our screening procedures seek referrals from a variety of sources used for conducting identification assessment. Identification is not just a moment in time or the use of data from one assessment. Referrals for gifted screening may include but are not limited to:

- Recommend formal identification of gifted needs and development of ALP
- Identify student talents, strengths, and needs and recommend level of services programming for development through ExSP
- Select new tools to collect additional data
- Determine data do not support formal identification or additional development services at this time
- Determine a student may need to be referred for special education assessment in addition to gifted identification (twice-exceptional students)

Our district has an obligation for the implementation of individual advanced learning plans (ALPs) of gifted students, K-12. In meeting the provisions for ALPs, each district in Colorado maintains a platform/format that houses a gifted student’s Advanced Learning Plan (ALP) and the development of information contained within the plan pursuant to the Exceptional Children’s Education Act (ECEA) Rules for ALP Content, Procedures and Responsibilities.
- Gifted administrators (AUs) shall have a process for management of ALPs within the cumulative file system including a procedure for transferring ALPs between grade levels, school levels, and districts [12.02(2)(g)(iv)].
- Individually identifiable records of students referred, assessed, evaluated, and/or served through programming for gifted and talented students in any AU shall be held to be confidential and protected in accordance with applicable federal and state laws and regulations. Student records that are collected and/or stored electronically shall be held to current state law and FERPA regulations governing the protection of personally identifiable information and the privacy interests of students [12.05(4)].
- The student’s learning profile described in the body of evidence shall be subject to the AU’s student records confidentiality guidelines [12.02(2)(f)].
